This is an important question. I think about this endlessly. Here’s where I usually end up. Underlying systems are not necessarily human or humanist. DNA is code. It’s not exclusively homo sapiens. It’s biological, but even that will be threatened by synthetics and biohacking. Ultimately everything is running on rules — even the universe. Simple rules that create systems. Those systems are without form. Since OS seemed like the best available metaphor other than DNA which has been overused, I decided the utility of the metaphor exceeded the risk of a bad mental model. Debatable for sure, but that’s present stance. Thx!
